RACING
> Diam 3
Conceived
by a group of passionate small cat sailors based in the west
of France, the DIAM 3 is one of the most recently designed FORMULA
18's. The third generation hull shape, launched in June 2003
represents a refinement of the very competitive first. The design
criteria have remained simple - performance is prime !
Improved construction techniques use Vinylester foam, a vacuum
bagged PVC foam core and strategically placed horizontal bulkheads
to provide a super stiff platform. New daggerboard profiles
with reduced cord length, finer entry in the bows and raised
beams have reduced drag to a minimum and allow optimal speed.
Additional freeboard and a responsive lightweight mast which
has been optimized for the rule - have added significant horsepower
to this quick and powerful thoroughbred.
Efficient systems, a clean trampoline layout including a snuffer,
self tacking jib and top quality Harken hardware make it a pleasure
to sail. A new square top mainsail and spinnaker designed by
leading Olympic Class sail makers puts you at the cutting edge
and first on the starting grid.
Raced
for the first time at the World Championships in Belgium in
2003 - its potential is clear. It showed excellent all-round
speed with significant improvements in downwind performance.
